There are three steps that I have found that work in making your film.
Step 1 : Call or email me and I will help you bring your film idea to life. I will walk you through a few brief questions that will give you ideas of what kind of photos and videos will be best for telling your story.

Step 2: Collect your media.
Decide upon the media you want to include in your film. You can include videos, photos, original artwork, newspaper clippings, letters, diplomas, documents, music, etc. Find anything that helps tell the story you want to tell.
Step 3 : Allow me to tell your story. At this point (if you have the time, and if you live in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex), I like to sit down with you and go over the images and scenes with you. If I cannot meet with you in person, I will talk with you on the phone. My goal in all of this is to make the film that tells your story.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are Bert's Special Event Movies like
No two Put it on Film productions are the same. Because I work personally on every movie, you can rest assured that the outcome of your film will be a professional movie and uniquely yours. I am an experienced filmmaker. I have made many narrative films. I strive to bring the same look and feel of a professional documentary or movie to every project. I believe in always keeping the image moving on the screen. In a video clip, the image is already moving. If it is a still image, then I use what is commonly known as the "pan and scan" effect or the "Ken Burns" effect. This method brings each photo to life by slowly zooming in on focal points, panning across a photo, or zooming out from the key point or person(s) in the picture.
My event videographer can do a photo montage for me. Is that the same thing Bert does?
No. I do not just do photo montage slide shows. Many photo montages created by videographers have a feeling of being impersonal. They often look like "cookie-cutter" presentations. I do not make quick photo montages; I make films. I take your media (your photos and videos) and make them tell your story. I endeavor to bring to life the images captured on the screen. I do not start my films with some canned graphic. I believe that the first image one sees is important in setting the tone of the movie.
How long will it take to make my movie?
As soon as I receive the material that will be used in your film, typical production time is approximately two weeks. However, when I visit with you, I will give you an estimate as to when the movie will be completed.

Yikes! My event is in less than two weeks! Is it too late for me?
Not a problem. I understand that events arise outside of our control, or the time just slips away on us. That is why there is such a thing as a rush order. Any order needed in less than 10 business days I consider a "rush order." Call me and tell me exactly what you need and when you need it, and I will see what I can do. The typical charge for a "rush order" is 25% more than what would be charged for the same service with a two week turnaround.
How do I send my pictures to you?
If you are a local client, I can get the photos from you and scan them for you. If you are not a local client, I have found that many clients prefer to scan their own photos or have them scanned at a local photo lab such as a Wolf Camera, CVS Pharmacy Photo Lab, Walgreen's Photo Lab or Wal-Mart's Photo Labs, to avoid having to send their pictures through the mail. Usually the photos I use are in .jpg format. Giving me digital photographs is often more convenient for you and will expedite the design of your film. If you do not have a scanner or other means of having your photos scanned, I will be happy to scan your printed images or photographs for 75 cents each, and 35mm slides for $1.00 each.
What if many of my photos need color correcting? Does it cost extra for Bert to adjust the color of my photos and images?
No, it does not cost any extra for me to adjust your images. Photo color correction is included with every Put It On Film Package we offer and allows each of your photographs to look their very best. While creating your film, I make any adjustments I feel are needed to any of the colors, light intensity, contrast, etc. in your photographs. I can brighten dark photos, detail blurred images, and correct over-exposed shots. No matter what the condition or quality of your old photos, I will do everything in my power to bring them back to life!
Can I get my film on a DVD?
Yes. Unless specified otherwise, all Put it on Film Packages include two custom designed DVD's.
Is it possible to get multiple copies of my DVD to give to my family and friends?
Definitely. These are great gifts for family and friends! The additional copies are $20 each. The price per DVD is discounted for large orders. Contact me for more information.
Will a Put it on Film DVD play in my DVD player?
Currently, over 95% of all DVD players on the market support our DVD format. If you purchased your player in the last two to three years, you should have no problem playing our DVDs.
Will I be able to view my film on my iPhone or Video iPod?
Yes, you have the option of substituting one of the two DVD's that are provided in each package for a disk containing your iPhone/iPod movie. You may also choose to purchase a disk containing an iPhone/iPod compressed video for $20.
Can I get reprints of the color-corrected photos?
Yes, you can. For an additional $20, I will send you a CD with your color-corrected photographs. Take the CD of your photos to any photo lab and you can have reprints made in any size you desire. These photos can also be viewed, edited, and printed on your home computer.
Is there a problem with using copy-written music?
It is safe to say that almost all music has a copyright. In order for us to use copy-written music in your video album, you must supply the original CD or I will purchase a copy of your song(s) from iTunes for $1.29 per song for you. Please contact me for more information.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is a flat fee of just $15 for those in the United States, and $25 for those outside the U.S. This flat fee covers your entire order, regardless of whether you get just the two DVDs with the package or you order an additional 200 DVDs.
How do I pay? What payment methods are accepted
We accept personal checks and money orders or credit card payments through PayPal.com. If you would like to pay for your film with a credit card, I will send you an invoice, giving you step-by-step instructions on how to pay through www.PayPal.com.
Pricing
The cost of your film will be directly proportional to the time it will take me to produce it. Many factors go into the process of making a film, including the amount of footage you submit, the number of images or photos I need to scan, and the finished length of the movie. The complexity of the soundtrack and graphic elements, such as logos and titles that I will create for your movie, take additional time and would add to the final cost. I will work with you to design the best film possible for your budget.
If you contact us we will be happy to email you a page containing typical calculation of costs to help you plan your film.
